What is Natural Wine and Where to Find it in Canada?

Natural wine is made naturally without any use of chemicals or technological interventions. Only grapes get used, and natural wine made in traditional methods. The term organic wine gets used when the wine made with organic grapes, it may or may not be added with chemicals during the process of wine making.

Natural Wine

The criteria for wine making are:

  • The wine gets made from organically or biodynamically grown grapes. Without or with certification.
  • The grapes get taken from dry- farmed or low yielding Vineyards.
  • Grapes get handpicked.
  • The vines not added with any sugars or different yeast or bacteria.
  • The acidity must not be adjusted.
  • No added sugar or minerals.
  • Addition of external flavors not allowed.
  • No manipulation such as micro oxygenation, reverse osmosis, cryoextraction or spinning cone is allowed.
  • Sulphites addition is not allowed.

Japanese Cuisine

Japanese is one of the most disciplined people in the entire world. They are known for their time management and dedication to work. It is brilliant how the product of their work provides so much output and profit.  Another thing to make a note about Japanese is their food. Japanese cuisine has a variety of seasonal and regional dishes. The Japanese have the habit of combining one staple food like rice with a main dish and a side dish. Rice:

3 Beautiful Ways to Top Your Pie

During the holiday season, pies are there in our every menu. More than the taste most of us are drawn to the design of the cake toppings. If you happen to be bored with the same old ways to create your pie top, then you can follow some of the following manners to decorate your pie.

  • Braided Pie.
  • Classic Lattice Pie.
  • Fish Tail cut out.

Braided Pie:

The braided pie gives an excellent coverage at the top of the pie. All you got to do is braid strands of dough and place them neatly on top of the pie and bake it.

Braided Pie

The following are the things you will need to make the pie:

  • Double crusted pie dough.
  • Egg wash.
  • Sugar (Optional)

Procedure:

  • First, you must prepare the bottom of the pie and create a crust and put the pie in the crust.
  • Roll out the dough into a long rectangular piece such that it is easy for you to braid the strands.
  • Depending on the shape and size of your pie, make the strands and start to weave neatly. Make sure to keep the strips flat and braid neatly so that every braid is of the same size.
  • After making several braid strands, lay the braids over the pie in such a way that it covers your pie.
  • Arrange the braid strands in a parallel manner for a neat look.
  • Trim off the extra strands at the edge of the pie so that the no additional pieces are hanging at the sides.
  • Fold the dough from the crust and merge it with the braided strands.
  • Keep the pie in the refrigerator and preheat the oven in the meantime.
  • Bake until the pie turns golden brown and your braided pie is ready.

Classic Lattice Pie:

Classic Lattice Pie

To make a classic lattice pie you will need:

  • Double crusted pie dough.
  • Egg wash.
  • Sugar (Optional)

Procedure:

  • Prepare the bottom crust of the pie.
  • Roll the top of the crust into large and long rectangular pieces. Make sure to cut the strips in such a way that the center strips are slightly longer than the side pieces.
  • The pieces you will need depend on the size and the shape of your pie.
  • Lay down the strips over the pie and pull back and fold every other strip over the pie.
  • After making the cross over, pre heat the oven.
  • Back the pie till it becomes brown, and your pie is ready.

Fish Tail cut out pie:

The fish tail cut our pie is a mixture of the braided pie and the classic lattice pie. You will need to follow the same procedure and combine them. If you need to braid the strands of dough to form the sides of the pie, and in the center, you need to cross the rectangular strands just like you did in the classic lattice pie.  You can also make designed of small leaves and add them on the sides of the pie.
